The Thermotrax Process beats the Competition

Traditional flexible circuit manufacturing has been accomplished by three methods:

A) hand forming thin wire and gluing it to a substrate in a predetermined pattern. B) chemically etching excess conductive material from a laminated material that is printed with a chemically resistant pattern and C) printing a conductive ink on a flexible substrate and allowing it to cure.

Process A is so primitive that it needs no comment.

Process B involves many different steps in the production sequence and produces corrosive waste chemicals requiring proper and expensive disposal. The etching process is difficult to control precisely and requires expensive equipment. Production time per unit is extremely slow with a web speed of 20 fpm considered excellent.

Process C involves printing an extremely expensive conductive "ink" film on a substrate and allowing the particulate matter in the "ink" to settle as a sediment, coming into intimate contact with other particles to achieve conductivity. Again, production speeds are by necessity slow, with 20-25 fpm really pushing the envelope. As in the etching process circuit to circuit quality It is hard to maintain in anything but a relatively forgiving specification. Conductive inks also have a nasty habit of "post curing" which, over time and environmental conditions, changes the electrical characteristics of the circuit.

Thermotrax builds a better mousetrap

In contrast, the eco-friendly Thermotrax technology generates no corrosive waste or measurable VOC's providing a green manufacturing component unparallel in the circuit manufacturing industry.

Circuitry has been produced with web speeds up to 300 fpm with no sacrefice in quality. Each circuit is virtually a clone of its predecessor which generates almost unbelievably high CPK's for this industry. Production equipment can be created by modifying "off the shelf" existing equipment or in unique applications building equipment from scratch.

Bottom line – Thermotrax is the next generation choice for low-cost, eco-friendly circuit manufacturing.

A simple, proven and very commercially viable method to partition a conductive web or plane into active and inactive segments with the active segments being useful conductive circuits capable of conducting current or signal. This process is fast and consistent with capabilities for very high Cpk's. No hostile chemicals are used and no emissions are released and any materials or scrap trimmed being benign. Conductive media can be aluminum, copper, tin or deposited conductive coatings such as carbon.
